I’m wondering at what point did having feelings..become “uncool”?
When did false pretense and game playing become the New Normal?
This is a question that really baffles me.
Because at our core..every human being is made up of feelings.
Every action. Reaction. Response. Movement. Lack of Movement.
It’s all based on a risk-aversion theory which is basically :
We want to do that which “feels” good and stay away from that which doesn’t.
Easy enough to understand, right?
It can’t be. Because I keep running across my fellow human beings that swear to me that they are able to shut their feelings “Off”.
How in the hell is this possible??
Someone please fill me in.
I’m confused. Dare I say..because that..I think is a feeling.
From the car you drive to the toothpaste that is used to clean your pearly whites (if you happen to brush daily) all of these things are chosen based on either how they make “you” feel..or to evoke some kind of feeling response..from someone else.
It really is that simple..to me.
Do you have a favorite brand of jeans, sports team, food, or Starbucks drink?
What makes it your “favorite”?
The way it makes you feel. As opposed to something else.
Our entire lives are made up of feelings. All day. Every day.
This is a little tricky in a society that promotes selfies..and more of only the self.
We have backup to prove that the theory of feelings or excuse me..”non-feeling” is correct. Really.
Snoop Dogg or Lion whoever he is these days..already told us..not to “love these hoes”.
Chris Brown confirms it by following up to let us know, the hoes ain’t loyal.
On the flip side watching one of the “Real” housewives of somewhere we have a woman who suggests that setting a “baby trap” for a man who doesn’t want to commit to her is the “only way to go”.
I could go on. But are you getting my point?
At what time did it become the “norm” to devalue another human being..and therefore ourselves as we are all connected?
Every Sinner and every Saint..is operating based off of a feeling.
The labels and titles to even describe the words used to define them come from the “feeling” that being in their presence evokes.
Now, I’m not saying that you have to walk around being a crying, blubbering mess all the time.
Not all feelings..are “Bad” feelings.
Actually none are either or. They only become such by the value that is assigned to them.
I am saying that some days..I feel..like a crying blubbering mess. And that is perfectly..Okay.
Some days I feel like a million bucks.
Some days I feel like a torn dollar bill.
It all goes with the territory.
These are just my thoughts.
I just wish that whomever decided to wage this “war on feelings” will get a new idea and wave the white flag.
Because try as you might..you can’t run from yourself.
And all of this lack of feeling..
Seems to be driving people nuts.
