She didn’t notice him at first, sitting quietly in a dark corner of the room,
But he noticed her. Immediately. There were other people present. But all he could see, was she. There was something about her smile, the quiet shyness of her voice, that made him feel something. He wasn’t quite sure what it was at the time. All he knew was that he had to get her attention. He tried, she resisted. He continued to try, he persisted. Until one day, shaken from her slumber, she took a moment to turn around and just look at him. Really look. She fell in love with him, almost instantly. She wasn’t aware of this at the time. That she had stumbled upon something Devine. They talked, they laughed, told stories of life, cries of the past, pain of the present, hopes for the future. Not realizing at the time, that they were indeed the answer to each others questions. Like a quenching of a long lasting thirst..on a hot summer day. A blast of icy cold..Relief. Sharing so many similarities, but for the difference of name and gender..they could have been the same. Not realizing the divinity, they both remained caught up in the game. Afraid to give in, yet at the same time afraid to let go. Wondering how could I feel this way for someone I barely even know? Both of them simultaneously thinking thoughts..the same. Quietly shushing them away for fear of embarrassment, or shame. Not knowing just how much..they needed each other at the time. They continued to wrestle with the idea of the concept itself, of themselves, of each other. Chains from a painful past weighing them down to each of their depths. Keeping them both from being truly themselves. Not realizing that neither of them are no longer who they once were. He..a new him..and she..a new Her. Missing the many obvious cues given by the universe. They decided it best to no longer converse. But each time this decision was made, as it was made many times..neither could ever get the other out of their minds. In the absence of the other emptiness ensued. Nothing was the same, nothing seemed right, could never be in the right mood. Without the other..which now it became clear was meant to be…Their Lover.
